White Sisal vs Natural / Brown Sisal
Sisal rope is generally distinguished in the trade by fibre colour and cleanliness, which reflects how thoroughly the leaf fibre has been decorticated and processed before spinning.
Cleaned / Decorticated Fibre
Lighter, more uniform in colour and texture, from more thoroughly cleaned fibre. Preferred for consumer-facing and pet-product applications — most cat scratching posts and cat trees specify white sisal rope specifically for its lighter appearance and more consistent, rough-but-safe texture for scratching.
Standard Fibre Grade

Is sisal rope waterproof?
